Paper No.3
THE customer paradox
What if the fastest way to build great leaders is to stop looking for leaders — and start growing great customers?
THE IDEA
Every company dreams of finding great leaders. Perhaps it should begin by patiently growing great customers.
Customers are often treated as the destination of the sales process. A successful conversation, a completed purchase, a satisfied consumer — and the journey appears complete.
Perhaps it has only just begun.
A customer who experiences genuine value can become a believer. Belief creates stories. Stories create recommendations. Recommendations create curiosity. And, over time, some customers naturally become business partners — and some business partners become leaders.
Sustainable growth is therefore less about finding the right people quickly and more about creating the environment in which the right people can emerge.
The shortest path towards sustainable growth may not be a shortcut at all.
