Paper No.1
the compensation illusion
What if the biggest weakness of a compensation plan is not how it pays — but how difficult it is to understand?
THE IDEA
For decades, direct selling companies have invested enormous effort in refining compensation plans — adding bonuses, qualifications, incentives and increasingly sophisticated payout structures.
Yet one fundamental question is rarely asked:
Can the people who are expected to build the business actually explain how they are rewarded?
A compensation plan is usually treated as a financial document. But its first responsibility is not to calculate commissions. It is to create understanding.
Because understanding creates confidence. Confidence creates motivation. Motivation leads to action. And action creates duplication and growth.
When a compensation plan becomes too complex to explain, it stops being an engine for growth and starts becoming a barrier to it.
